Diwali:the festival of lights.

Diwali/Deepavali is a beautiful festival. It spreads light and light in turn spreads happiness and excitement.A festive atmosphere throughout the city is something that adds to the joy  and excitement of each every person whether a grown up or a child. The diyas, sparklers, crackers and of course the beautiful sweet boxes and nuts all gift wrappped are a delight to every heart and every palate..

Pigeon in distress

The other day on one of our usual walks in the car park we saw a weak pigeon at the centre of the road.It was struggling to move  and was obviously drooping. their was an entire trail of droppings ,so picking up the bird would be a messy affair. So I  was just thinking of getting a towel from our apartment when it started moving slightly. So I followed it to the footpath ,so that it is safe. Then we got a plate of grains and water to prevent it from starvation. The least we could do,we left thebird half heartedly to go home.In the night we checked the place where we had left to notice that it had vanished.Let us hope that it had the strength to fly away...

Food : Vegetarian or Non vegetarian

This is the ultimate debate. All vegetarians are considered to be the more conservative..The nonvegetarians are the more cool variety. The main difference is nonvegetarians keep stressing on how they cannot survive without meat, where as veggies never have that reason to complain unless of course if taken to a completely non veg restaurant with completely non vegetarian dishes with the exception of one or two which might be in a preliminary stage waiting to be garnished. The veggies are missing out on a lot .But  everybody is missing out something delicious which somebody else is having at some other place at the sametime. In our lifetime we can have only n number of dishes of which more than fifty  percent may not be so tasty as to store in our brains. If we eat to live,we are focussing on enjoying life more  through daily activities and if we live to eat we are
concentrating on the dishes that we eat everyday and how to enjoy every meal.....

taking the credit

I was browsing through  the book..good to great and saw this quote..
You can accomplish anything in life, provided that you do not mind who gets the credit.
-Harry S.Truman.
I don't know how many of us agree to that. But I suddenly realise that the truly successful people when I look around are the most humble.I am not one among them as I am not the most humble:).
Getting credit for what we do is something that all of us work for.In a different perspective it could mean somebody who does not work for individual gains but wants his team to get the credit would be more true when it pertains to acompany.
When it comes to day to day life it may be that the person leads a more relaxed and laid back life without the tensions of working  towards pleasing others.
At the end I find this quote very enlightening  and needs to be given a a lot of thought.

Wishing for more

Wishing for more is what all of us do.  What we wish for is up to the individual. Some of us  wish for more money or other materialistic needs, some of us wish for happiness, some of us wish for a contented life and others wish for health.
Some have very simple needs like  food for at least once a day,a drink of water and a good nights sleep.
Wishful thinking is human.I believe allof us should have wishes and these should be wishes which do not have negative effect on others.
All of them may not  turn out to be true today, but some day they might...:)

Pitter patter rain drops

In the late evening after a spell of rain the smell of  wet soil ,slight breeze and clouds moving away,Isn't that the right time for a short walk .So there we set out, me and my small, naughty partner with one small purse and  a small black umbrella.Once we started out then I realised the smell of wet soil was golden, but the puddles of water need to be avoided. But my little walking partner decides puddles are more interesting when your shoes are filled  with the muddy water.I reprimand him and we walk towards our destination, a nearby temple. There are just enough people to keep walking, not too crowded. But my naughty partner decides there is enough space for me to run around ,why should I keep walking. So I decide to finish  my prayers fast and leave as soon as possible  as I have to catch up with the toddler partner. But then starts a heavy rain.We are stuck in the temple, either of wants to leave.I want to take him back safely and he wants to play with the raindrops. With great effort I restrict him to the interiors and wait for the rain to be a drizzle. Finally we open the single umbrella and walked along with the rain, enjoying it now  and relieved as we were about to reach home.

Serendipity or the chance meeting

The word 'serendipity' reminds us of either the movie serendipity ,where two people in love leave destiny to decide or the chance discovery of penicillin. The surprise and  the happiness that meeting somebody, may be a long lost friend by chance cannot be debated. But tiny meetings which occur by chance also give us the same amount of happiness although we never realise. Two days ago,I was in the library browsing when I met a friend by chance and right behind me was another friend.Since we all live near by the meeting did not take us by surprise, but the timing definitely was a surprise. Another instance when I was getting off a train bleary eyed at 4:00am,I hear my name and turn around to see this nice person who informs me that she was my senior at school. But I concluded  that she had exceptional memory and slowly recollected.Chance meetings increase with age as we meet more people with time.Memory and recognition plays an important role in how the meeting ends.Although its always a pleasure if both of us have the same memory and same presence of mind in exchanging thoughts.:)
If you are reading this, it is again serendipity......:)
